About Institute for Creative Management of Sichuan University

The Institute for Creative Management(ICM) was established in 2010 under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Yongzhong Yang at Business School of Sichuan University, P.R China. ICM firstly launched the systematic exploration on creative management from the perspective of Business and Management disciplines in China. Since 2011, ICM has received the fund support from Government of China under the National Natural Science Fund, the Key Project of the National Social Science Fund, and Program for New Century Excellent Talents in China and the visiting program in Australia which is supported by National Scholarship. During the last four years, we have done a lot of pioneering work in the establishment of the creative management in China. The main work has the following five aspects:

昂宝(ON-BRIGHT)OB2365AMPSOT23-6

The First is to promote the formation of the creative management as a new branch of Business Management discipline. In 2014 the Ph.D enrollment majoring in Cultural Creativity Management was started at Business School. Till now it has recruited nearly twenty Ph.D candidates (National as well as International), and post-doctoral, and the ongoing researches include creative product development mode, the evaluation method of the creative product value, the operation mode of the Internet creative product and customer co-creation of creative products, super star market competition strategy etc.

The Second is publishing China Creativity Management Frontier Research Series in 2014, which has got large attention in China, especially the monographs Cultural Creative Product Development: Promoting the Made-in-China by Cultural Creativity winning the National Cultural Industry Research Academic Achievements Prize. From the perspective of management, China Creativity Management Frontier Research Seriesis intended to research the occurrenceanddevelopmentrulesofcultural creativity, to seek the mechanism integrating culture with technology and economy, and then to pursue the path of cultural manufacturization and manufactural culturalization around each linkof value chain including such as cultural resources, content creation, product manufacturing, market promotion and consumers, which provides the theoretical support for promoting the change from "made in China" to "created in China". As Professor JinYuanpu from Renmin University of Chinamentions, “the series book starts the system research from the perspective of micromanagement culture creativity”. With the books published in succession, it will deepen the creative management issues related to frontier research in China.

The Third is publishing Creative Management Review in 2016, which is the first Journal intending to promote the development of creative management research in China. This journal is publishing high level academic papers and exploratory practice articles about the creative management from the perspective of business management by applying management research methods. The Journal intends to offer a professional and standardized idea sharing platform suiting both the refined and the common taste with an open academic philosophy and the principle of combining production with research.

The Fourth is to build a new model to fostercreative managers and class on the basis of theoretical innovation. The Institute of Creative Management took the step in setting up the professional courses like "Creativity and Innovation" and "Cultural Creative Product Development"for undergraduate and MBA students respectively in Sichuan University, by this way establishing an interconnected personnel training system from undergraduates to doctors and achieving the sustainable theoretical innovation. At the same time, with the establishment of new courses, different from the traditionalteachingmode, the Institute explorestocoach studentsin translating their ideas into practical and commerciallyviable productor plan withlearned professional knowledgein-order to enhance the management skills of students and promotesbusinessprojects. The teaching paper "Academic Entrepreneurship: Create a New Model forCultural Creative Management Personnel Training" won the National Higher Education AwardforEntrepreneurship. In 2016,one team of undergraduate students (UTO), coached by our Institute, won the Second prize in the First National Cultural Creative Business Competition (for cultural life project).

The Fifth is to promote the creative management communication. We sponsor several public forums including the Global Cultural Entrepreneur’s Forum, the Creative Management Scholar Salons for the academy sector, and Creative Night in Chengdu for the social sector. A series of events are held in succession, which also has got wide public concern, and also promotes the development and the practice of the creative management in China, accelerating the formation of creative management in China.

  About Chengdu

Chengduis the original city name which dates back to its founding over 2000 years ago. Chengdu is the capital of southwestern China's Sichuan province, as well as one of the largest cities and the most important economic, financial, commercial, cultural, transportation, and communication centers in Western China with a population of more than 14 million.

The city is famed for its cuisine, and is also home to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a conservation center where visitors can view endangered giant pandas in a natural habitat. Chengdu also hosts more than 260 Fortune 500 companies.

Its famous food and tea culture make Chengdu very attractive to travelers from around the world, with many teahouses where you can relax in a bamboo chair, have a fine cup of tea, and exchange ideas while watching the bustle outside. Its cuisine, particularly snacks and spicy foods, is distinct and Chengdu is one of the few places in China where fresh vegetables are available year-round.

Chengdu is a great place to live and people are friendly and welcoming. It is a city where past meets present; high rises and fashionable shops give the city a modern feel, while the street markets and traditional teahouses add a taste from the past.
